239_La Llei d'Hont

- Law used to distribute councilors/seats proportionally to many territories.

- The first thing that is done is to eliminate the parties that do not reach the minimum required votes (in the Valencian elections it is 5%, in the Spanish elections it is 3%)

- Then you must divide the number of votes for each party by the number of seats/councillors to be distributed. See Table :

Total valid votes: 10518 votes

Partit A : 4500 vots / 42%

Partit B : 3467 vots / 33%

Partit C : 1230 vots / 11,7%

Partit D : 976 vots / 9,2%

Partit E : 345 / 3,28%

If any party had LESS participation than indicated, it would be left out of the distribution of seats/councillors.

In this case, they are all above 3% and, unless we are told otherwise, they all have the right to participate in the distribution. In this case, we are going to distribute 8 councilors. Let's prepare the table:

                1        2            3        4        5        6        7        8

A        4500     2250   1500     ......

B        3467    1733.....
